Wales Intl is a Kuwait based company specialising in civil engineering and intelligent transport systems (ITS). I am responsible for creating partnerships for my client in the UK that ensures that this new business start-up has a portfolio of key construction companies. Planned, prepared and consulted on delivering Kuwait’s first ITS spanning Air, Land and sea.

CIO EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, Framingham, MA, USA   October 2009 – October 2010

UK Liaison Development Director

The CIO Executive Council is comprised of hundreds of leading CIOs globally, who together form a peer advisory resource and as there are no vendors, consultants or analysts, it’s just IT leaders assisting each other.

I was responsible for developing the UK business and consulting UK based CIOs to the CIO Executive Council’s services while managing existing relationships.

THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY, Bristol, UK                July 2008- June 2009

Senior Project Manager

The Environment Agency is the public body that looks after the environment and ensures that we can leave a better environment for future generations.

I was responsible for providing my expertise to projects that required input from a senior manager with private sector expertise.

  • Planned and initiated a vision of an enterprise wide mobile IT strategy delivering applications worth in excess of £3 million.
  • Managed investigation into Oracle irecruitment module for internal/external applicants and won acceptance of new solution proposal for a tactical fix.
  • A new national induction process adopted following consultations and submissions I made to the HR team.
  • Saved £800K by terminating a project, deliverable by alternative means and by transforming process for enterprise adoption of mobile handhelds.
  • Redesigned process for new starters that improved the delivery lifecycle process.

MIDLAND SERVICE STATIONS, Birmingham, UK           January 2007 – June 2008

Programme Manager

Midland Service Stations is a £12M retail/service organisation with 4 locations.

I Evaluated IT systems, identified areas for improvement and managed improvement project.

I also planned and managed technology projects.

  • Evaluated technologies and negotiated purchase of new tank and pump management system, CCTV with integrated EPOS, and web-based financial systems.
  • Integrated new systems with MS Exchange, data storage, and automatic backup systems.
  • Facilitated 10% increase in sales and 50% reduction in shrinkage.
  • Security system facility reduced break-ins by 80%, with projected savings of £400,000 in first 3 years.

ALANDICK & CO., LTD., Cheltenham, UK                January 2005 – September 2006

Head of IT

AlanDick is a £330 million global communications infrastructure provider.

I directed all IT operations and supervised staff of 70 and administered £10-15 million budget. Promoted rapidly from Technical Support Engineer to Group Programme Manager and then Head of IT.

  • Arranged and managed key projects in areas such as infrastructure development and improvement, service desk procurement and implementation, Citrix farm migration, Exchange migration, MPLS, MS SharePoint implementation, cabling of headquarters, firewall, VPN installation, and many others.
  • Improved profitability by re-organising IT operations as added-value contributor instead of cost centre.
  • Introduced Prince2 and ITIL methodologies to improve technical performance and service levels.
  • Saved $2 million by migrating all sites to BT-based global VPN.
  • Reduced costs by implementing web-based procurement solution and streamlining supply chain process.

Managing Consultant

Riverleaf Ltd was an IT consultancy providing advice and assistance to deliver IT systems that delivered value for money and a lower total cost of ownership for selected clients.

I recommended and implemented IT solutions for clients that improved performance and efficiency.

Selected engagements included:

  • Directed rollout for XP migration across the South West and South Wales within a budget of £1.3 million.
  • Managed rollout of desktop migration on behalf of Orange from Windows NT4 to XP Professional and Exchange/Outlook 2000. Urgent replacement for departed Project leader.
